Urivera™ Suspension

Clinical Monograph: Urivera™ Suspension
Therapeutic Class: Urinary Tract Health / Nutraceutical Urinary Alkalizer.
Overview: Urivera™ is a synergistic combination designed to support urinary tract health and manage recurring Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). It combines the bacterial anti-adhesion properties of Cranberry and D-Mannose with the systemic alkalizing effects of Potassium Magnesium Citrate.
Composition
Each 15ml of Urivera™ Suspension contains:
1.Cranberry Extract (Standardized for PACs): 200 mg
2.D-Mannose: 300 mg
3. Potassium Magnesium Citrate: 975 mg
4. Flavor: Cherry
5. Base: Sugar-Free (Suitable for Diabetic Patients)
Pharmacodynamics & Mechanism of Action
1. Cranberry Extract (Proanthocyanidins – PACs). Cranberry contains Type-A Proanthocyanidins which inhibit the p-fimbriae of Escherichia coli (E. coli) from adhering to the uroepithelial cells. By preventing colonization, it facilitates the flushing out of bacteria during micturition.
2. D-Mannose: D-Mannose is a simple sugar that is primarily excreted unchanged in the urine. It acts as a “decoy” for E. coli. The bacteria bind to the D-Mannose molecules instead of the bladder wall, forming a complex that is easily voided.
3. Potassium Magnesium Citrate Acts as a systemic alkalizer.

PH Modulation: It increases urinary pH, making the environment less hospitable for certain bacteria and providing symptomatic relief from burning micturition (dysuria).
Lithogenic Inhibition: It increases urinary citrate levels, which helps inhibit the crystallization of stone-forming salts like calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate.
Indications
Management and prophylaxis of recurrent Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs).
Symptomatic relief from Burning Micturition (Dysuria).
Prevention of Urolithiasis (especially calcium oxalate stones).
Adjuvant therapy alongside antibiotics in acute UTI.
Dosage and Administration
For Adults: 10ml (one measuring cup) diluted in a glass of water, twice daily, or as directed by the physician.
Note: Increased water intake is recommended during therapy to enhance the “flushing” effect.
Clinical Advantages
Synergistic Action: Dual-action anti-adhesion (Cranberry + D-Mannose) reduces dependency on long-term prophylactic antibiotics.
Symptom Management: Rapidly neutralizes acidic urine to reduce pain and urgency.
Patient Compliance: Pleasant cherry flavor with a sugar-free formulation ensures better adherence, even in geriatric or diabetic populations.
Precautions & Side Effects
Contraindications: Severe renal impairment or hyperkalemia.
Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated; mild gastrointestinal upset or laxative effect may occur in sensitive individuals.
Drug Interactions: Use with caution in patients taking Potassium-Sparing Diuretics or ACE inhibitors due to the potassium content.
