IroNexa+™ Suspension

Clinical Monograph: IroNexa+™ Suspension
Therapeutic Class: Hematology / Advanced Hematinic Supplement
Overview: IroNexa+™ is a comprehensive, advanced iron supplement formulated as a suspension. It combines a highly bioavailable chelated iron (Ferrous Bisglycinate) with essential co-factors (Folic Acid, Vitamin B12, and Zinc) and the functional glycoprotein Lactoferrin to optimize iron absorption and manage nutritional anemias effectively.
Composition Each 5ml of IroNexa+™ Suspension contains:
Ferrous Bisglycinate: A chelated iron form that is 2.5–3.4 times more bioavailable than conventional ferrous sulfate.
Lactoferrin: A milk-derived iron-binding protein that enhances iron absorption and provides immune support.
Folic Acid (Vitamin B9): Crucial for DNA synthesis and red blood cell maturation.
Vitamin B12: Essential for neurological health and hemoglobin synthesis.
Zinc Citrate: Supports immunity and enzymatic processes related to erythropoiesis.
Flavor: Orange.
Base: Suitable for pediatric and adult use.
Mechanism of Action
1. Superior Iron Delivery (Ferrous Bisglycinate)
Unlike standard iron salts, Ferrous Bisglycinate is a stable chelate that remains intact through the acidic stomach environment. This prevents common side effects like constipation, nausea, and epigastric pain while ensuring higher uptake in the duodenum.
2. Enhanced Absorption & Homeostasis (Lactoferrin)
Lactoferrin acts as a natural iron regulator. It binds Fe3+ with high affinity even at low pH levels. It helps modulate hepcidin and ferroportin levels, restoring iron export from cells to the blood, which is particularly beneficial in cases of anemia associated with inflammation.
3. Erythropoietic Co-Factors
Folic Acid & B12: Work synergistically to prevent megaloblastic anemia by ensuring the proper maturation of red blood cells.
Zinc Citrate: Acts as a catalyst for red blood cell formation and strengthens the immune response, making it vital during pregnancy and recovery from illness.
Indications
Prevention and treatment of Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA).
Nutritional support during Pregnancy and Lactation to prevent maternal anemia and support fetal growth.
Management of anemia related to chronic diseases or inflammation.
General fatigue, weakness, and low energy levels due to nutritional deficiencies.
Dosage and Administration
Adults: 5ml to 10ml twice daily, or as directed by the physician.
Pediatrics: Dosage should be adjusted based on age and weight under medical supervision.
Administration Tip: Suspension should be shaken well before use. The orange flavor is designed to improve compliance in children and patients with sensitive palates.
Clinical Advantages
High Bioavailability: Chelated iron ensures maximal absorption with lower elemental doses.
Gastrointestinal Tolerance: Significantly lower incidence of constipation and metallic taste compared to ferrous sulfate.
Dual-Action Immunity: Both Lactoferrin and Zinc provide direct support to the immune system.
Precautions:
1.Contraindicated in patients with hemosiderosis or hemochromatosis.
2.High doses of Zinc (over 40mg daily) can interfere with copper absorption.
3.Lactoferrin, being a milk derivative, should be used with caution in patients with severe milk allergies.
